Leitmotif of my work = how people construct their identities and navigate their lives with (and without) information and communication technologies. More on my research and publications.

Spent about a decade working as a user researcher in Silicon Valley most notably for the company formerly known as Sun Microsystems (now Oracle) and a few defunct dot.coms (my favorite of which was Productopia).

For the first part of my professional life I focused direct energy on making the world A Better Place, working on the conference organizing team of the historic NGO Forum on Women ’95 Beijing (the NGO complement to the United Nations Conference for Women) and for Amnesty International USA.
